Brick heritage on the Rupel

In the last century, Noeveren was still dominated by the brick industry. In this peaceful village, the historical appearance of which is protected, its traces are still recognisable. On the site of the former brickworks Novobric, later Lauwers, there are still a few workers’ houses, a factory chimney, a joinery and a ring oven from the industry’s heyday.

The role of Kempens Landschap

The ring oven dating from 1925, which is a protected monument, is currently in poor condition. The owner of the Lauwers site, the non-profit heritage association EMABB, hopes to change the situation. Our organisation is guiding EMABB through the restoration process, from management plan to repurposing to the actual restoration.
