Blommerschot

Typical Campine woods

The Blommerschot is a typically Campine, large-scale forest complex that extends over the municipalities of Zandhoven, Zoersel, Malle and Vorselaar. Here you will find many inland dunes and heath relics. In 1940, at the edge of the forest complex in Zandhoven, a cross was erected for Christian passers-by. From here, the Kruisdreef was added, a wooded avenue that enhances the landscape.

The role of Kempens Landschap

In 2003, our organisation bought several parcels of forest near the Kruisdreef. Here we regularly manage the forest – for example, by removing black cherry or encouraging indigenous hardwoods by thinning the population of trees.
