Koude Beekvallei

Breathing room

The open area of Koude Beekvallei extends over meadows with various watercourses, pools and hedgerows. There you will also find the Geboortebos – quite literally the ‘Birth Forest’. This wood first saw the light of day in 2011. Each year 24 new trees are planted there as symbols of all the girls and boys born in Borsbeek that year. The annual planting day is always a festive occasion when young parents lend a hand in the proceedings.

The role of Kempens Landschap
Since our organisation bought 31 hectares in this area, a great deal has changed. On the advice of Kempens Landschap, farmers switched over from high to low cultivation. In this way, an open view of the surroundings was created. Various small landscape elements such as rows of trees and hedgerows were also added. In addition, we rebuilt the historical Vremdervoetpad.
